Setup (with suction simulation)
Simulated vomit mixture setup

Fill the canister with clean warm water.
Add 1 tbsp of Laerdal Simulated stomach contents.
CAUTION
The simulated blood may stain and can be difficult to remove. Ensure thorough cleaning after use to prevent permanent discoloration.
NOTES
To create a more realistic vomit simulation, additives such as oatmeal (quick oats) or Laerdal simulated blood can be used.
The system does not measure the amount of vomit removed. This may lead to incorrect assumptions about the LSU for LAAS performance in clinical settings.
Place the training mat and manikin on a stable surface.

Connect the aspiration canisters to their connectors on the manikin.

Attach the inflation bulbs to their connector.

Remove the esophagus plug from the manikin.

Connect the end of the hand pump tube labeled Esophagus to the esophagus connector on the manikin.

Connect the hand pump Other tube, patient suction tube and vacuum tube to the LSU for LAAS canister. Place the LSU for LAAS canister inside the LSU for LAAS cabinet.

This creates an infinite loop of vomit suction, with vomit flowing from the LSU for LAAS to the manikin, then back to the LSU for LAAS canister.
