Use of the Laerdal Advanced Airway Solution system to train personnel should be undertaken under supervision of suitably trained technical or medical personnel with an understanding of educational principles as well as recognized medical protocols.
As with all patient simulators or other such training devices, there may be approximations, variations and inaccuracies in anatomical features and physiological modeling.
WARNING
The Stifneck Select Collar and Thomas Select Tube Holder are provided as accessories for training with the LAAS kit. Do not use in real patient care or on a standardized patient. Cleaning procedures for this accessories are not included in this user guide.
CAUTION
Inspect before use, do not use if damaged or deformed.
General Guidelines
WARNINGS
For training use only – May be operated by humans, but not for clinical use and not to be applied to any person (including actors or standardized patients).
Do not perform mouth-to-mouth ventilation on airway management manikins that are not equipped with an airway filter.
CAUTION
Manikin electronics have no IP rating. Do not expose any electronic components to liquids of any form.
NOTES
Friction between the leaf spring and torso may cause small fragments to appear in and under the manikin. This is part of normal function and does not damage the product.
When dry, lubricate the hand pump plunger. Lift the plunger to its highest position, place a few drops of silicone lubricant at the base and pump it a few times.
Battery
Following battery types are recommended:
Non-rechargeable alkaline batteries, LR6 1.5 V AA
Rechargeable NiMH batteries, HR6 1.2 V AA
CAUTIONS
Batteries must be replaced with correct type.
Do not use batteries with a nominal cell voltage higher than 1.5 V.
Remove batteries if product is not to be used for an extended period.
NOTES
If the device is used with rechargeable batteries, the “Low battery warning” deviates from normal behavior.
Internal charging is not supported.
